IMPORTANT VISA ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CITIZENS OF CANADA
On July 26, 2005 the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 1134/2005 that repeals visa requirements for citizens of Canada visiting Ukraine.
This Presidential Decree is introduced to develop and promote practical implementation of principles of partnership in the relations between Ukraine and Canada, and is based on the aspirations to ease travel regime for citizens of the two countries and to foster bilateral contacts in all spheres of mutual relations.
The Decree No. 1134/2005 provides that effective August 1, 2005 citizens of Canada may enter Ukraine or transit through its territory with Canadian passports valid for travel abroad without Ukrainian entry visas if period of their stay in Ukraine does not exceed 90 days.
The provisions of the Decree do not apply to those citizens of Canada who are proceeding to Ukraine for the purpose of studying, employment, immigration or work with diplomatic and consular missions of Canada in Ukraine as well as for any other purpose if their planned period of stay in Ukraine is exceeds 90 days.
